Poetry Club

We meet in Berkhamsted on the third Wednesday of each month, from 7pm - 9pm.

Hosted by founder, Andrianne Philippou, the informal, relaxed setting creates a comfortable space for the group to share and explore all aspects of their work, facilitating discussion and creativity around the

art of writing poetry.

Group exercises and discussion topics are set every month - from analysing and discussing notable or favourite poetic works, to experimenting with free-form improvisation; to "show and tell" exercises, or attempts to try new and different poetry styles - pushing us out of our comfort zone and expanding our individual understanding and development of the form.

Who should come?
Everyone is welcome!
Whether you're old, young, a keen wordsmith or simply curious...
If you like the idea of being creative, experimenting with words and the poetic form, expressing yourself and learning something new, not to mention making new friends, come along and join us!

 Our guidelines:
Be kind! Mutual respect and support for all group members at all times.
Consideration and acceptance for what everyone shares within the group.
Be brave! Go on... join in with the tasks or exercises.

Our community is a safe space -
We value each other's insights, creativity and appreciation for all things poetry and the written word!
Is there a fee to join?
No - Berkhamsted Poetry Society is free to join although some events and social activities
we take part in may have a ticket price.
What will I learn?
Greater confidence to experiment with your writing style, adapting existing and learning new skills through regular group meetings and structured tasks, sharing exercises and activities that will hopefully inspire you to stretch yourself and your knowledge.

And of course, you'll make new friends, fellow lovers of poetry and the written word, enthusiastic and supportive members whose feedback and encouragement will be hugely empowering and motivational, as you share your work and ideas. What's not to love?!
